Last weekend, my parents and I went to my late grandmother’s home and finished getting the remaining items out so that we could put her home on the market. As we were going through boxes, bags, and an abundance of stuff, I noticed that she had tons of quilting pieces already cut and ready to come together for a new quilt. 🙂 It’s like she was saying to me, “Brandi, it’s time for you to keep this tradition going”. 🙂
I have always admired the different quilts that I have acquired over the years, there not only beautiful, detailed, but extremely durable, but also made by the ladies from past generations. It really is the ultimate gift that keeps on giving.
Here is one of the beautiful quilt’s that came from Grams’s collection, and I love that I will always think of her every time I cover myself up with it on a chilly evening.
So, now it’s time for me to learn how to take those fabric pieces and make my own quilt creation. And thanks to Craftsy.com they just released a FREE online beginners quilting class, and yes, I have already signed up! Seriously, the timing is perfect, and I feel like my Grams is giving me signs from up above. Why not join me in creating your own family heirloom, such as a baby blanket, wedding bedspread, or start small and make a Christmas table runner. HINT! HINT! Either way, I always encourage anyone to learn something new, and with this FREE class the art of quilting may just be your new hobby!
