I have a mom who could just about create anything you wanted with her exceptional sewing skills. She made my sister and I matching outfits when we were younger, that were similar, but still individualized to each of us. I’m not saying that I loved all of the designs that my mom made, but I do know that she put a lot of love and time into making her girls look their best.
So, when my daughter was born, it was time for “Grammy” to make her first party dress, and here it is below.
My daughter, Breanna, (who is now 14) wore this dress out! She thought she was a little princess, and would dance, sing, and basically entertain anyone who would pay attention to her. 🙂 When I look at this dress now, it not only brings back wonderful memories, but I see the careful, skillful, details that my mom put into making such a beautiful garment.
To me, learning a craft such as sewing, gardening, quilting, or cooking is a gift that just keeps on giving. Sure, you can buy all of these things, but when you can teach, make, or give something that you did yourself, it’s a true gesture of caring and sharing. I want my children and 4 nieces to know how to cook, sew, quilt, grow a garden, or even bake their own wedding cake if they wanted to!
If you would like to learn how to master any of these hobbies for yourself, then I highly encourage you to become a member of the Craftsy online community, and at least sign up for a FREE online course, such as “Perfect Pizza At Home“. If you like what you see, then you must take advantage of their Craftsy Sweet Summer Sale 7/17-7/21 with up to 75% off on select online classes!
